I know it because I live it

While I was living in Sweden I had a friend say,"You are so smart, how do you believe the things that you do?" He was speaking of my belief in God. He had written off the notion of the existence of a higher being as irrational. For me to be logical in my thinking and yet believe in something that cannot be formally explained did not make sense to him.

I guess this is kind of the point of my blog, to show that there is reason in both logic and inspiration. The soul is made of the body and the spirit. How else can we then reach sound truth if not by both these pathways? I could cite instances that logically explain the existence of God, our Eternal Father, but they would be of no use if you did not listen to the promptings that affirm the truth of my words.

How do I then know that these things are true? Well, because I live it. As an engineer, I cannot trust a theory, equation, or experimental write up until I test it. I know that God exists not only because it makes sense, but because in living in a way that He would have me live, I am Happy! I know it because I live it.

I have had several friends say they tried to pray, they tried to find out the truth for themselves, and yet felt nothing. How is this then possible? Quite honestly, it could be any number of things. All I can tell you is that God doesn't always answer our prayers in the way we think it should be answered. His timing is his own, and we cannot dictate that. When I was deciding what college to attend I didn't get some overwhelming spiritual answer. Instead, I talked it over with my parents and realized that one school just made sense. I felt confident in my final decision, there was no sense of doubt. My answer was the feeling of peace that came with making that decision, I have never looked back and wondered 'what if?'.

God does exist. He watches out for all of us, believer and nonbeliever alike, because all of us are his children. Everyone has trial, and everyone experiences happiness at some point in their lives. Through God and Jesus Christ, we can make even our hard times into times of rejoicing.
